Yachts, yachting and yachties in Antibes

Because I arrived in Nice I thought it was a good idea to check Antibes out, but I came quickly to the conclusion that it's not my cup of tea here.

First day I walked around the marina and I didn't see any racing boat - mmm..
Powerboats that's what they have here, some big ones too. I talked to some people and with the crew agents and they told me that more than 80% of the jobs are on powerboats. Jobs like steward, engineer or chef are not what I am looking for...
Anyway, Antibes is bigger than I thought and the city is very nice. Around the marina it's all yachts, yachting and yachties. Full of Brits as usual, drunk in the bars making a lot of noise at 22.OO. I stayed in a crewhouse with 8 people cramped in one room for 25 eur a night. 2 showers and 2 toilets for about 30 people, crazy.

Luckily sending some emails to my contacts was a bigger success. I send an email to the SailMaxiOne organization with my CV and references and got a positive reply. What's even more, yesterday Lode called me up asking if I could join him this weekend to sail on the Grand Mistrals! A perfect start.

So this afternoon I take the train to Italy :-)
Time to do the Italian language exercises I downloaded on my iPod.
