First cappuccino in Italy
A quick post of what has been happening the last weeks:
Begin February I flew home to Belgium to visit my family. Finally I could catch up with my parents and brothers and sisters! So much to talk about, so good to be home. A lot of relaxing too, hanging in the sofa, watching TV with my mum and sis, something really valuable when you travel a lot.
I visted my friend Annick, who bought a cloud of a son. Congrads girl!
Not to forget the visit of Maria to Antwerp, finally an Italian to judge Belgian food
About a week ago I flew to Nice, from where I crossed the Italian border again. Aah, you can't imagine how good my first cappuccino was. I am staying with my friends in Santa Margherita Liguria at the moment. Last weekend we went to Torino where there are the winter Olympics.
At the moment I am sending CV's, printing business cards and e-mailing my contacts to find a new job/ boat for this season. There was a place as first mate on "My Song" a very sexy Maxi based in Rapallo, but unfortunately their program is not what I am looking for. Only 4 races this season and a lot of cruising with the owner.
Anyway, there are quite a few Maxi's here in Italy I am eyeballing.
A few days ago I had contact with the director of "Maximus" which wingmast is being repaired in Genua. They are going to race the whole Italian circuit this season. It's too early to hope for a job on this super Maxi, but the contact is there.
Another thing, I have been playing around with Google Earth when I was in Belgium and plotted my last 2 crossings on a network file. I can also update my current position, waypoints etc. It's pretty cool.
