Middle Sea Race confirmed

I just got my confirmation email for Rolex Middle Sea Race

The 45ft boat is the first Sleeker design, inspired by seaplanes from the 30's. She's got an aluminum hull, carbon rigg and a North 3DL race set. The owner is Thai and her name "Pasaya" means something like maitresse if I can remember. I dayworked a few days in the spring to step the rigg in La Spezia. Very nice interior and the navstation comes with a (...)

Regattes Royalles, Cannes (part 2)

We just finished hauling, washing and packing up the boat, that took us about 4 hours all dressed in our racegear.

Nice racing today in about 18 knots wind. After 2 general recalls our start was nothing special, somewhere half fleet, but we had a good downwind run and the second beat we made good way on the other side of the fleet. Things got very nervous on the windward marks and we all had our part in swearing and yelling. After this race with a result in the 40's we felt (...)

A lot of trim toys to play with. The mast for example has 5 different regulations. The racing level is very high. Competitors are mainly EU, with the majority North Europeans, but also the States, Canada, Brazil, Hong Kong etc. are present. A (...)

Vele d'Epoca di Imperia on Kipawa

Yesterday morning I arrived in Impera where I sail Vele d'Epoca di Imperia, the biggest event for classic boats in Europe. Earlier this year I dayworked on "Kipawa" and I wanted to take the chance to race on one of these classics.
A beautifull scenery in the morning on arrival. Wood, varnish, copper and canvas. I know a few people who are into classics and they all have a very good time. Everything seems much more relaxed, whith (...)
